Product Details:

The Bongo Rx is a simple device with soft nasal seals and is available in various sizes (SM, MD, LG, and XL). The Bongo Rx is an EPAP (expiratory positive airway pressure) device and works as follows:

  • During inhalation, small valves open to allow you to breathe normally through the device.
  • During exhalation, the valves close and direct exhaled air through small vents to generate EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure). EPAP keeps the airway open until you inhale again.
  • Please Note: This device will NOT work effectively if you have an AHI above 30 which is referred to as Severe Sleep Apnea or if you have complex breathing disorders such as central sleep apnea, cheyne-stokes respirations and obesity-hypoventilation.

A good travel alternative but it has issues

I bought this with the hope that it would be a good alternative to travelling with my regular CPAP and all its accessories. I have been trying it out for several nights in preparation for our trip and have had mixed results. A proper fit is very importatnt. I thought the XL would be my go to size but after several hours it began to hurt my nostrils. It also chronically had a “rain-out” every 3 hrs where moisture would build up inside an begin blocking the air flow as well as making a very disturbing noise. Just for comparison last night I tried the medium size and had a much more comfortable sleep although I still experienced the rain-out issues after about 4 hours.. I will still take the Bongo on my bike trip as it will be impossible to travel with my regular CPAP. I’ll continue to keep working with the Bongo hoping that I will adapt to it better after more use.

Sleeping much better

I’m definitely sleeping much better now. The only thing is, the inside of one of my nostrils is very sore. Hopefully, I get over that soon.
